My Big News

Sorry I haven't been blogging regularly lately - I am just a little bit busy at the moment, packing up and organising things here, as my husband and I will be moving back to New Zealand at the end of the month !!

At this stage, we have not decided where exactly in New Zealand we will be living, so I may be "missing" from my blog for a little while. But will try and keep you updated with news and some photos when I can.

Until next time, try and make time for some art everyday !!!

I will be trying to do that, even if it's just a few lines in my art journal !!!

SO ARTFUL CHALLENGE #1

So Artful Challenges  

The theme for the current  challenge is based on the following 2 pictures

or

Optional Color Schemes: turquoise, red, yellow, or blues

I decided to go with using both pictures 

on an art journal page

the base for the page is from an old book

I then smeared ink over it with an old credit card

added the graphics 

typed out the wording on the computer

and drew around the lady and the wording with a black pen

Today is my FOUR YEAR blogversary !

Hard to believe it's been 4 years since I started this blog - so much has happened over those 4 years.

But as always I am so blessed to have been able to share my art and my life through my blog with you all.

CLEAN & SIMPLE CHALLENGE

Friendship's Garden challenge blog 

 for their first challenge for 2012 is having a "Clean and Simple" challenge, which spotlights a sentiment. Also this blog is a NON stamping blog which means you can not use a stamped image as the main focus on your card.

I incorporated into my card for the matted background a piece made using the bargello technique (details of which can be found on the Splitcoast Stampers site under Resources )

2012 RESOLUTIONS

One of my resolutions for 2012 is to work in my art journals more and also share more of my pages on my blog.

So here's the first of them.

The theme of the pages is 2012 resolutions.

I also did something I don't usually do and that is to take a couple of "work in progress" photos.

So here's a photo of the pages before I added the journalling and graphics etc.

and here's a tip for you - if you are using inks, paints, sprays, stencils etc - keep a spare page nearby and wipe excess inks and paints onto that (see below) and get a head start on your next background !!

NEW YEAR/DRAGON CHALLENGE

The theme for the current  challenge is New Year / dragon

As always there are great images you can use for inspiration in anyway you choose!

I decided to use one of the images on the challenge blog and incorporated it with a cute dragon digi stamp from Dustin Pike.

TAGS GALORE

Most times in my craft room, I head in there with a purpose in mind

to journal, scrapbook, make cards for a specific occasion or swap

However yesterday I just decided to experiment and "play" for the sake of it

and the following tags are what evolved over a period of playtime

Which just goes to show, I think,

 that unplanned playtime can bring with it

some good results !

INKED EMBOSSED FOLDER TECHNIQUE

Was sad to read on the IDIC challenge blog that the current "Fabulous Friday Fun" post will be Cindy's last post  doing that, Her FFF post's have been great and informative and FUN !!

Over on her personal blog - Cre8iveCindy - Cindy is having a wonderful challenge (with prizes !!) 

and has asked that bloggers pick one of her wonderful techniques she has highlighted on her FFF posts (was hard to chose one!) and create something using it.

since my Dad left this earth (hard to believe it's almost 6 years ago!)

I have made this card to join 2 challenges
- So Artful Challenges - this challenge closes in 4 days time - 
The theme for this  challenge is Ceil Chapman and/or to use the colours Silver, Pink and Black (or any combination of those).  
There are  fantastic vintage ads featuring her designs and a pattern of one of her dresses as well on the challenge blog. You are able  to use the images for inspiration in anyway you choose!  If that doesn't work for you, just use the colour theme instead!
I decided to use the colour theme of Silver, pink and black for my card.


- Cheery Lynn Designs blog - challenge #8 - Celebrate - You must follow the theme and use at least one Cheery Lynn Designs die. I have used the gorgeous butterfly and angel wings dies on my card.

I hope you all had a very Happy Christmas and are enjoying the break between now and New Years.
